For the third quarter of 2009, net sales were $646.16 million, compared to $630.67 million in the same quarter of 2008.
For the first nine months ended September 25, 2009, net sales were $1.85 billion, compared to $1.78 billion in the same period of 2008. Net income attributable to the company was $190.75 million, or $2.67 per diluted share, compared to $150.94 million, or $2.16 per diluted share, in the same period of 2008.
James Craigie, chairman and CEO of Church & Dwight, said: "The strong organic sales growth was driven by consumer appeal of our high quality premium products and value-oriented products, new products, carryover benefits of 2008 pricing actions and a record level of marketing spending, partially offset by soft sales in the specialty products division. We increased sales and market share for seven of our eight 'power brands' in the quarter, and achieved strong organic sales growth in both our household and our personal care product lines."
