Nov. 5--A few positive signs do not an economic recovery make.
However, the news that three major car makers -- General Motors, Ford and Toyota -- saw cars sales increase in October over October of last year is encouraging. GM's sales were up 4 percent, Ford's 3 percent and Toyota's less than a percent.
The news wasn't as good for Chrysler, whose sales were down 30 percent.
This relatively good news comes on the heels of Ford's announcement that it had earned nearly $1 billion the third quarter.
The domestic auto industry and the U.S. economy aren't out of danger. Still, after more than a year of bleak news, things might finally be perking up.
