BEIJING, Nov. 6, 2009 (Xinhua News Agency) -- Actions Semiconductor (NASDAQ:ACTS) (ACTS.NASDAQ), a fabless semiconductor companies in China, has reported its financial results for the third quarter of this year.
In the quarter ended September 30, 2009, the company's net loss amounted to 600,000 US dollars, or 0.01 dollars per American Depositary Share (ADS). It suffered a net loss of 800,000 dollars in the second quarter of this year, but enjoyed a net income of 7.3 million dollars in the third quarter of 2008.
Similarly, the company recorded Q3 revenue of 13.4 million dollars, higher than the 10.5 million dollars in the second quarter, but lower than the 27.3 million dollars in the same period of last year.
Its Q3 gross margin was 30.8 percent.
The company's performance improved on quarter, as it expanded market share in the product categories of automotive MP3 and portable media players (PMPs). Sales in these product categories accounted for more than half of the total revenue.
For the fourth quarter of this year, Actions Semiconductor projects its revenue at between 8.5 billion to 10.5 billion dollars, and the gross margin at 27 percent to 30 percent.
