BEIJING, Nov. 6, 2009 (Xinhua News Agency) -- The Sinopec (NYSE:SNP) Group engineering unit, China Petrochemical and Refining Engineering Company, has won the bid for building an aroma project for Atyrau refinery in Kazakhstan worth of 1.04 billion US dollars, reported the group's website on Friday.
The report said the Sinopec engineering company has signed an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract with Atyrau refinery to build two sets of 1-million-tons/year continuous reforming units and one 500,000-million-tons/year aroma production unit.
It is the first overseas EPC contract for the Sinopec engineering unit.
Sinopec Group is the parent company of the Sinopec Corp. (SNP.NYSE; 0386.HK; 600028.SH).
