Petrohawk Energy posts loss in Q3

(Source: Datamonitor)trackingUS-based independent oil and natural gas company Petrohawk Energy has reported a net loss of $40.18 million, or $0.14 per diluted share, for the third quarter of 2009, compared to a net income of $305.46 million, or $1.28 per diluted share, for the same period of 2008.

The company has reported total operating revenues of $237.94 million for the third quarter of 2009, compared to $304.96 million for the same quarter of 2008.

Petrohawk Energy has reported a net loss of $1.06 billion, or $3.88 per diluted share, for the first nine months of 2009, compared to a net income of $157.09 million, or $0.74 per diluted share, for the corresponding period of 2008.

Year-to-date total operating revenues were $728.69 million, compared to $824.53 million for the first nine months of 2008.

Floyd Wilson, chairman and CEO of Petrohawk Energy, said: "The third quarter was defined by continued expansion of our activities in the Haynesville and Eagle Ford Shales. Today we detail plans that move these important assets to the forefront of our production and reserve profiles and predict significant production and reserve growth in the coming months and years."
