19 Recordings / Jive Records and AOL announced today that AOL
will serve as the media hub to launch American Idol champion Kris
Allen's self-titled debut album. AOL sites will debut a myriad of
exclusive content offerings including AOL Music Sessions, CD listening
party, video premiere and interview. In addition, Allen's own site will
be hosting the "Every Second Counts" contest in which one winner and
three friends will be flown to New York City to be part of the AOL Music
Sessions.
Today, AOL's pop culture and news site PopEater.com will debut the video
for Allen's "Live Like We're Dying" at http://www.popeater.com/2009/11/06/kris-allen-live-like-were-dying/.
The video was filmed recently in Acton, CA with director Marco Puig.
AOL Music, http://music.aol.com,
which comScore media metrix ranks as the most popular online music
destination in the country, will premiere Allen's self titled debut
album on November 9, as part of its weekly CD listening party, a full
week before the album's official release on November 17. Fans will be
able to stream the album in full or track-by-track. The 13 songs
included on the album range from the pure, back-to-basics guitar rock of
"Live Like We're Dying" and "Before We've Come
Undone," to stirring, emotive ballads such as "Bring It
Back." Allen's considerable multi-instrumentalist talents
and all-star delivery are consistent on every track. Producers on the
forthcoming album include Saalam Remi (Amy Winehouse, Nas, Leona
Lewis), Steve Kipner (Christina Aguilera, David Archuleta), Andrew
Frampton (Kylie Minogue, Natasha Bedingfield) and Toby Gad
(Beyonce, Fergie, Jordin Sparks).
Following the album launch, Allen will tape an episode of AOL Music
Sessions, http://music.aol.com/sessions/latest,
in which he will perform selections from the album and conduct an
exclusive interview. The AOL Music Sessions is slated to debut on
December 22.
"AOL has a longstanding working relationship with 19/Jive/RCA in serving
as a launching pad for all the idols including Kelly Clarkson, Carrie
Underwood, and David Cook," said Bill Crandall, Vice President, AOL
Music. "We're thrilled to again serve as the platform in which to launch
this extraordinary new artist."
The "Every Second Counts" campaign will live on Kris' official
website, http://www.krisallenofficial.com,
where fans can submit entries that demonstrate how their friend, family
member or co-worker lives life to the fullest every day.
