NEW YORK, Nov. 7, 2009 (Kyodo News International) -- Two Los Angeles county residents have filed a lawsuit against Toyota Motor Corp. (NYSE:TM) , demanding that the Japanese automaker recall its vehicles for possible defective electronic throttle systems that could cause unintended acceleration.
In the lawsuit, filed Thursday, the plaintiffs said they had experienced repeated incidents of unintended acceleration separately while driving their Toyota cars, and seek state-wide and national class-action status with other owners of Toyota cars which have similar throttle systems.
The plaintiffs' cars are not included in the ongoing safety recall Toyota launched last month for some 3.8 million vehicles in seven models, warning that an unsecured driver-side floor mat could slip forward and jam the accelerator pedal.
