Council officials say Lee, 64, will be elected for a three-year term during a general meeting on Monday.
The Seoul National University graduate is an experienced finance expert who spent most of his career working for the government.
As chairman of KCEE, an educational economic institution, Lee will help make a wide range of economic and financial information accessible to the public.
