BEIJING, Nov. 9, 2009 (Xinhua News Agency) -- Caofeidian of North China's Hebei pr ovince, has edged into one of China's top oil refining bases as stated
in the latest National Petrochemical Revitalization Plan.
According to Caofeidian's blueprint, it will realize a total of 20 million tons of refining capacity in the next three years, which wi ll push it into the top nine refining bases in the country.
Caofeidian is an emerging petrochemical hub, which now has harbo red a 300,000DWT crude wharf and a 5.2-million-ton crude stockpiling b ase, both owned by Sinopec (NYSE:SNP) (SNY.NYSE; 600028.SH).
It is learnt that some 1 billion tons of oil reveres has been pr oven within the oil city's territory, which provides a solid foundatio n for Caofeidian's future development as a fast-growing oil center.
Other oil bases include Ningbo, Shanghai and Nanjing, whose oil refining capacity respectively surpasses 30 million tons/year. Maoming , Guangzhou, Huizhou, Quanzhou and Tianjin are listed side by side wit h Caofeidian, whose refining capacity has reached more than 20 million
tons per year each.
