Bullfrog Power(TM), Canada's 100 per cent green electricity provider, today announced that Ivanhoe Cambridge has chosen green power for 50 per cent of the electricity requirements of the common areas in its Mic Mac Mall. In conjunction with Bullfrog Power's launch this week in the Maritimes, Ivanhoe Cambridge has made the decision to expand its commitment to green electricity by adding the Mic Mac Mall in Dartmouth to its roster of malls that support renewable energy. As part of a multi-faceted international sustainability plan, Ivanhoe Cambridge already supports green power through Bullfrog at 14 malls across Ontario. Choosing green electricity allows Ivanhoe Cambridge to take a stand for renewable energy in the Maritimes, reduce the mall's environmental impact, and help to create cleaner world for today and tomorrow.

"We are thrilled to welcome Mic Mac Mall as one of the first companies to sign on with Bullfrog Power here in the Maritimes," said Holly Bond, Director of Sales and Marketing, Eastern Division, Bullfrog Power. "As a popular destination in the Halifax area, the mall has an excellent opportunity to generate awareness about the environmental benefits of clean, renewable energy."

To celebrate Mic Mac Mall's green electricity choice, a ribbon-cutting ceremony and bag exchange were held on Saturday, November 7, 2009. The first 500 people who dropped by with a used plastic bag received a free Mic Mac Mall reusable canvas tote. Participants were also able to visit the Bullfrog Power booth to learn more about the company and enter to win an eco-gift basket.

"At Mic Mac Mall, we know the environment is important to our shoppers and retailers," says Terry Harvie, General Manager of Mic Mac Mall, "which is why we have partnered with Bullfrog Power to support green electricity as part of the mall's sustainability efforts. We believe that by choosing to support renewable energy, businesses in the Maritimes can play an important role in the future of this community."

Bullfrog Power's electricity comes exclusively from wind and hydro facilities that have been certified as low impact by Environment Canada under its EcoLogoM program-instead of from polluting sources like coal, oil, natural gas and nuclear. In the Maritime provinces, Bullfrog Power currently sources from wind farms and low-impact hydro facilities in Prince Edward Island and New Brunswick. Bullfrog's Maritime generators inject renewable electricity onto the regional grid to match the amount of power used by Bullfrog Power's customers.
