Murdoch may have Google block searches
Monday, November 09, 2009 2:09 PM

Murdoch, chairman of News Corp (NASDAQ:NWS) , said, "I think we will," in responding to a reporter's question on why he has not instructed Google to block News Corp. from its search service.

Murdoch has been planning to move The Times of London and the Sunday Times to paid subscription, much like the Wall Street Journal, where only the first two paragraphs of online stories are available without subscription.

Murdoch said Internet users who do not pay for subscriptions -- random, casual viewers -- are less valuable to advertisers than paid subscribers.

"There's not enough advertising in the world to make all the Web sites profitable. We'd rather have fewer people coming to our Web sites but paying," he said.
