TBILISI. Nov 14 (Interfax) - Manana Archvadze-Gamsakhurdia, the
widow of late Georgian President Zviad Gamsakhurdia, and several of
her supporters have begun a hunger strike in front of the Georgian
People's Defender Office on Saturday.
Archvadze-Gamsakhurdia told journalists she is demanding the
release of her son, Tsotne Gamsakhurdia.
Tsotne Gamsakhurdia is being held at a pretrial detention center
on charges of inflicting a gunshot wound on his neighbor David
Bajelidze. Tsotne Gamsakhurdia himself insists on his innocence and
is also on a hunger strike.
"My son did not commit this crime and is being persecuted for
political motives. He has not eaten for 17 days with his health
being badly undermined, so authorities must release him," Archvadze-
Gamsakhurdia said.
