Nov. 16--Microsoft Philippines announced the availability of its newest Exchange Server as well as the new operating system Windows 7 and the latest version of its server operating system in the country. During the Windows 7 Business Launch "The New Efficiency" held in Makati City, Microsoft introduced recently its new version of operating server, Windows Server 2008 R2; the cornerstone of Microsoft's unified communication technologies, Exchange Server 2010; and its new-generation operating system, Windows 7.
The new products, Microsoft said, were created to enable organizations to address their pressing economic challenges, save cost and strengthen their ability to deliver value to their customers.
"We are introducing new roster of business solutions capable of transforming information technology into strategic asset that makes it possible to cut costs without impeding customer service or workforce creativity and effectiveness," Danny Ong, marketing director at Microsoft Philippines, said.
"If you look at the IT departments these days, their big focus is to save on cost," Rene van der Vlugt, marketing director at Microsoft Corp., said. Vlugt added that Microsoft's new wave of technology offers not only cost saving but also productivity and innovations to help an organization to grow.
Vlugt said an organization using the new operation system would have an estimated annual saving per PC with Windows 7 of $90 to $160--for estimated service desk, $36 to $45; desktop management, $25 to $98; and deployment and provisioning, $28 to $61.
"Microsoft, through The New Efficiency, is also laying the foundation for effective systems and solutions that will connect people to information, applications and to other people in today's complex computing environment," Ong said.
Ramoncito Balboa, technology deployment manager of ESS Manufacturing Co. Inc. (EMCI), said they decided to migrate to Windows 7 to utilize the latest technology, increase efficiency and create value for its customers.
"One of the reasons why we seriously considered moving toward Windows 7 is because of the security and flexibility it offers," he said in a statement.
EMCI is among those organizations that are part of the Windows 7 Early Adopter Program.
