Mr Malter will report to Kim Cocklin, president and COO of Atmos Energy. Mr Malter succeeds Mark Bergeron, who was previously named president of Atmos Energy Holdings.

Mr Malter has worked as Atmos Energy's director of gas supply and services in New Orleans since 2007. He joined the predecessor to Atmos Energy's Louisiana division, Louisiana Gas Service, in 1998 as manager of contract administration.

Mr Cocklin said: "Kenny has the education, experience and background to lead our gas supply and services group. We are excited and pleased with his addition to our leadership team."
