China Coal and Power: Top stories of the day -- Nov. 17
BEIJING, Nov. 17 (Xinhua) ?Top stories in China's coal and power industry on Nov. 17, as follows:
1. The coal stock in Qinghuangdao, the largest coal port in China, has decreased remarkably since recent heavy snow prevailing in northern China affected the transport of coal from the coal production area like Shanxi to the port. Some power plants have even asked for emergency help for their plunging coal inventory.
Comment: The coal price is predicted to go up in a short term.
2. The National Development and Reform Commission is expected to release the electricity price adjustment plan before the end of this month, China Securities Journal reported Tuesday.
The plan includes making structural adjustment to the on-grid power prices of some regions and adjusting up the sales price of by 0.025 yuan/kwh.
Comment: The new policy may form a new on-grid power pricing mechanism to pave a way for liberalizing power price in the future.
