Network equipment provider Cisco Systems and Malaysian government's agency Multimedia Development Corp (MDeC), a developer of Multimedia Super Corridor (MSC), have formed an alliance to establish Malaysia as a regional hub for training, certification and the development of networking technology operation skills.
As per the agreement, Cisco will provide training and development for local partner companies to enable them to provide the complete range of Cisco training programs and certifications to students throughout the region.
Datuk Badlisham Ghazali, chief executive at MDeC, said: "MDeC is excited about this collaboration with Cisco as we work together to maximize Malaysia's economic potential with the development of training programs for our local partners. This initiative is a strategic lead up to our aim in creating a higher value-add and knowledge-based economy that will drive further increases in per capita income and fulfill the existing job market demands by providing the opportunity and environment that support development of skill sets and competencies for the industry."
Last year, Cisco formed a partnership with YTL Communications to roll out a broadband WiMAX network to enable Malaysians in both urban and rural areas to be connected and enjoy converged services on the 4G network. Cisco also formed a Virtual Computing Environment coalition with EMC and VMware to accelerate the use of data center virtualization and private cloud infrastructures to enable customers' to increase business agility through IT infrastructure flexibility, and lower IT, energy and real estate costs.
