Nov. 19, 2009 (Xinhua News Agency) -- CNPC to start operation of Shenzhen LNG terminal in 2011
BEIJING, Nov. 19 (Xinhua) 锝– China National Petroleum Corporatio n (CNPC) is expected to start operation of its liquefied natural gas (OOTC:LNGLF) ( LNG) terminal in Shenzhen of southern China's Guangdong province in 20 11.
A CNPC official familiar with the issue said the terminal is to receive natural gas from the central Asian countries via the second ph ase West-to-East natural gas pipeline. Through the terminal, CNPC also
targets LNG entry into Hong Kong later on.
CNPC's natural gas output accounts for about 80 percent of natio nal total figure. Holding of rich upstream resources enables CNPC to c apture major gas market of the country.
It would also have the responsibility to ensure supply during e mergency because of its monopoly position. CNPC recently vows to go in
full swing to secure natural gas supply to snowstorm-hit areas in Chi na.
CNPC is the parent company of PetroChina (PTR.NYSE; 601857.SH).
