(Source: Datamonitor)trackingGerman power and gas utility E.ON has said that it is further expanding its wind energy portfolio in the US by inaugurating its new Stony Creek wind farm in Western Pennsylvania.

The company has said that the Stony Creek wind farm has been set up on the site of a former surface mine, which has now been put to new use.

The project comprises 35 GE wind turbines with an installed capacity of approximately 53MW.

E.ON Climate & Renewables, a subsidiary of E.ON, has constructed the wind farm. The wind farm can supply about 16,000 homes with electricity. E.ON currently has around 15GW of wind projects in the development pipeline, about half of them are in the US.
