Nov 19 (Interfax) - Tajikistan may soon call a tender for the rights to the Shakhbas gold field, with an estimated 75 tonnes of gold, said the press office of Emomaly Rakhmon, the country's president, who chaired a meeting in the gold industry on November 18.

Proposals to tender the deposit will be submitted to the government.

Shakhbas is in the Penjikent district, 250 km northwest of Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan. It was explored back in 1985.

Tajikistan mines approximately 1.6 tonnes of gold per year.
