BEIJING, Dec. 2, 2009 (Xinhua News Agency) -- Shanda Interactive Entertainment (NASDAQ:SNDA) (SNDA.NASDAQ) has announced the financial results for the third quarter of this year.

In the quarter ended September 30, 2009, the company's net revenues increased 48 percent year on year and 12 percent quarter on quarter to 1.38 billion yuan, or 202.5 million US dollars, better than its guidance, which saw a quarter on quarter growth between 8 to 11 percent.

Its net profit in the reporting period amounted to 435.3 million yuan, or 63.7 million dollars, up 29 percent year on year and two percent quarter on quarter.

On the same day the company reported the financial report, Shanda Online, a subsidiary of the company, announced the appointment of Jing Zhu as its chief technology officer.
