Helius Energy

--What do they do? Developing biomass energy plants
--Where have the shares been? Floated at 26p in early 2007, it was at a high of 62p by the end of that year. After a dive last year to a low of 16p, a recent rally in the stock has taken it back to 27p
--Latest news: reported that it moved into the black at the half year and that a pipeline of three sizeable renewables power stations are on schedule
Renewable Energy Holdings
--Market cap: £20 million
--What do they do? Operates wind farms in Europe and involved in wave and solar energy
--Where have the shares been? Debuted at 50p in February 2005 and touched a high of 75p soon after. By this time last year they were back at the float price and have since fallen by around a third to 32p
--Latest news: has warned of poor wind strength at its German wind farms; has sold wave energy interests and aiming to get into Sicilian solar power
Romag Holdings
--Market cap: £20 million
--What do they do? Manufacturer of solar panels
--Where have the shares been? Shares 18 months ago were at a 270p peak, a sixfold rise on their 45p debut in late 2003. Since then, the price has shattered trading close to an all-time low at 36p
--Latest news: warned demand for solar panels has dived: revenues have dropped, losses have widened and the dividend has been axed
