Mar. 25, 2011 (Xinhua News Agency) -- Huaneng 5.85 mln kw station on Lancang River gets state approval
KUNMING, Mar. 25 (Xinhua) ?C Huaneng Lancang River Hydrop ower Company said Friday that it has got state approval for constructi on of its Huaneng Ruzhadu hydropower station with an installed capacit y of 5.85 million kilowatts on Lancang River in southwest China.
Located in Pu'er in Yunnan province, the Huaneng Ruzhadu hydropower station with nine 650,000-kw generating units will be the l argest hydropower station in Lancang River Basin and the project requi res a total investment of 45 billion yuan.
The hydropower station is also a key project in China's p lan to divert electricity from the west to the east. It is estimated t o help China save 9.56 million tonnes of standard coal equivalent and reduce carbon dioxide emission by 18.77 million tones annually upon fu ll operation.
