Tuesday, May 10, 2011 6:54 AM

SUGAR LAND, TX -- (Marketwire) -- 05/10/11 -- Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas) -- Global power generator AES Corporation (NYSE:AES) (Arlington, Virginia) released first-quarter 2011 earnings results yesterday. Net income for the quarter was $224 million, an increase of nearly 20% from the first quarter of 2010. Strong demand growth in Latin America helped offset softer pricing and sales volumes in Europe and Asia. The company expects earnings to continue increasing throughout 2011, as more than 1,700 megawatts (MW) of new power capacity is planned to come online by the end of the year.

Information on $6.5 billion in AES projects in Europe and the Americas is available in Industrial Info's North American and Global Power Industry Databases.
