'Real Grinches' steal Grinch decoration

Wednesday, December 14, 2011 7:56 PM

SEATTLE, Dec. 14 (UPI) -- A group of three or four people stole an inflatable Grinch and destroyed other Christmas decorations on so-called Candy Cane Lane in Seattle, residents said.

Northeast Park Road in the Ravenna neighborhood of Seattle, known for its street-wide holiday decorations, was targeted by vandals late Saturday night, Ravennablog.com reported Sunday.

Tracey Sconyers, a Candy Cane Lane resident, said she heard some loud, mean talking outside her house around midnight. She saw three or four people walking onto a neighbor's porch before leaving in a sport utility vehicle-style limo -- and by the next morning, she saw many of the street's decorations had been stolen or destroyed.

"This was a very different level of vandalism that happened," Sconyers said of the destruction. "They were out to destroy things."

All that remained of the inflatable Grinch was a few scraps of fabric, though the community was able to purchase a new one on eBay Wednesday, the blog said.
