TCI America (TCI), a global organic chemical manufacturing and
distribution company, is opening a new distribution center in
Montgomeryville, PA, a suburb of Philadelphia, in April 2012. This new
warehouse facility will distribute products throughout the eastern U.S.,
enabling TCI to offer its customers prompt low-cost delivery of high
purity specialty organic chemicals.
The TCI America distribution center will provide 10 living wage jobs
immediately and is expected to add additional jobs in the near future.
Company management is targeting unemployed workers in their hiring
process to increase the positive impact the new facility will have on
the local economy.
TCI is an affiliate of Tokyo Chemical Industries, which was founded in
Japan in 1946, and the company has since grown to become a leading
international manufacturer of specialty organic chemicals. The TCI
America manufacturing and distribution facility was founded in Portland,
OR, in 1985. TCI has a sales office in Boston, MA, and, with the
addition of the PA distribution center, TCI will offer enhanced service
to their east coast customers.
The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's Office of International Business
Development, Select Greater Philadelphia, and the Montgomery County
Economic Development Corporation assisted in making the case for TCI
America to locate its facility in the Greater Philadelphia Region.
The company's product line draws on 60 years of synthetic organic
chemistry experience to create new technology for the manufacturing and
development of rare and novel compounds, many of them exclusive to TCI.
The current catalog lists over 22,000 products for use in synthetic
organic chemistry, material science, biochemistry and analytical
chemistry. TCI can scale-up to manufacture bulk qualities. TCI offers
custom-synthesis to customers as well. TCI customers include
universities and research labs as well as businesses in the
pharmaceutical, biotech, medical, electronic, and petroleum industries.
