MCLEAN, Va., Feb. 15, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) [NYSE: SAI] announced today it was awarded a prime contract by the U.S. Naval Medical Logistics Command (NMLC) to provide operational and medical research and development services to the Bureau of Medicine and Surgery (BUMED) Military Treatment Facilities (MTF) under the Clinical Investigation Program (CIP). The five-year, multiple-award, indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity (IDIQ) Investigational Research Omnibus contract has a potential value of $49.9 million for all awardees.
BUMED affords high quality health care to beneficiaries, providing care for uniformed services' family members and retirees at military treatment facilities around the globe. Under the contract, SAIC will provide research and development services as required, including: clinical research, experimental design, protocol development, data entry, statistical analysis, scientific literature review for research projects, diagnostic and experimental tests, and ongoing and future research projects. SAIC is one of nine contractors that will compete for task orders under the contract.
