Annual Award Recognizes Innovation and Leadership in Government IT

BLUE BELL, Pa., Feb. 15, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Unisys Corporation (NYSE: UIS) today announced that Peter Gallagher, managing partner for portfolio solutions, Unisys Federal Systems, is a 2012 Federal 100 Award winner. The Federal 100 Awards, sponsored by Federal Computer Week, recognize leaders in the government IT community who "go above and beyond" to make a difference in the way technology transforms government.

Gallagher was recognized for his contribution to the federal government's efforts to embrace technologies such as cloud computing and open source software. In addition to his leadership at Unisys, he has served for two years as the vice president of programs at the Association for Federal Information Resource Management (AFFIRM), a non-profit, volunteer organization whose purpose is to improve the management of information and related systems within the federal government. At AFFIRM, Gallagher has brought together government and private sector professionals in forums focusing on solving problems and sharing best practices.

In his Unisys role, Gallagher helped the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) to become the first federal agency to successfully migrate all of its employees to a cloud-based email and collaboration system using Google Apps for Government. GSA's chief information officer Casey Coleman is also a recipient of a 2012 Federal 100 Award, in part due to her leadership on this project.

In July 2011, Unisys announced GSA's successful transition to the Google Apps for Government platform under a contract to Unisys. GSA expects its new solution to increase employee productivity, enabling employees to work remotely from any location at any time, while resulting in a 50 percent cost savings. GSA will also benefit from new collaboration capabilities, such as direct access to onsite and remote colleagues through video chat and shared documents.

"I am honored to be named among the Federal 100 Award winners," said Gallagher. "It is a privilege to work with dedicated federal employees, industry partners and my colleagues at Unisys Federal Systems in our shared efforts to improve government IT capabilities. I intend to continue to promote collaboration and best practices to benefit the entire federal IT community."
