HomeStreet, Inc. (NASDAQ:HMST) has hired Cory Stewart as corporate
controller and senior vice president of finance and accounting. Stewart
will oversee the preparation and reporting of the company's fiscal
operating results.
Before joining HomeStreet,
Stewart spent three years as director of finance for Volt Information
Sciences, Inc., where he was responsible for finance and accounting for
three of the company's operating divisions. Prior to Volt, he was a
first vice president in the Corporate Accounting Policy Group at
Washington Mutual (WaMu). As such, he was responsible for accounting
policy matters and managed large-scale accounting policy projects. While
with WaMu, Stewart also worked in Enterprise Risk Management, focusing
on market risk oversight functions and asset and liability management
policies. He also served as vice president in the Home Loans Group and
was a financial instruments subject matter expert.
Additionally, Stewart was a manager in the Audit and Business Advisory
Services group at PricewaterhouseCoopers for several years.
Stewart is a licensed CPA in the state of Washington and has been a CFA
charterholder since 2002. He graduated cum laude with a
Bachelor's degree in accounting and an MBA from the University of Utah.
He is a member of AICPA and CFA Society of Seattle, and is active as a
volunteer with Junior Achievement and other civic organizations. He
currently serves as a board member of the Washington Chapter of
Financial Executives International (FEI).
