NASA Astronaut Talks Space With Indiana Business Professionals

HOUSTON, April 17, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- NASA astronaut David Wolf, a veteran of four spaceflights, will be the keynote speaker at The Economic Club of Indiana Monthly Luncheon on Monday, April 23. The luncheon begins at noon EDT at the Indiana Convention Center, 100 South Capitol Ave., Indianapolis.

Wolf will discuss his work at NASA and share his spaceflight experience with the 700 people expected to attend. The presentation will be followed by a brief question and answer session. Media are welcome to attend.

Wolf is a native of Indianapolis. The North Central High School graduate was selected to join the NASA astronaut corps in 1990. Wolf has logged more than 168 days in space, including 128 days during a long-duration mission on the Russian space station Mir. He also has conducted seven spacewalks, totaling 47 hours of extravehicular activity during his four space missions.

Wolf received a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering from Purdue University in 1978 and a Doctor of Medicine from Indiana University in 1982. The following year, Wolf completed his medical internship at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.

Wolf has received 15 U.S. patents, published more than 40 technical publications or papers and received more than 20 Space Act Awards, primarily for 3-D tissue engineering technologies for which he received the Texas State Bar Patent of the Year in 1994.
