SUNNYVALE, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 04/19/12 -- Supertex, Inc. (NASDAQ: SUPX), a recognized leader in high voltage analog and mixed signal integrated circuits (ICs), today introduced FP0060, a low voltage AC protection switch with a current fold-back feature to provide protection for solenoid valve controls. If the load is shorted, FP0060 will detect a high current condition and quickly turn the switch off. The switch will automatically turn back on when the short is removed.

FP0060 has a maximum switch resistance of 5.0 ohms and is controlled by a 12V CMOS logic enable pin, EN. When EN is low, the switch is open and when it is high, the switch is closed. In the open state, FP0060 can withstand up to +/-60V, which enables users to control 24VAC lines with 12V logic.

"FP0060, with its small three pin package and no external supplies needed, offers designers a space-saving, easy-to-lay-out solution for AC solenoid valve control," states Jimes Lei, Director of Application Engineering for Supertex. "The IC features fast current fold-back response to protect against abrupt short circuit conditions and low on-resistance of maximum 5 ohms for lower power dissipation."

FP0060 is available in a SOT-89 package (FP0060N8-G). The part is RoHS compliant. Samples are available from stock. Lead-time for production quantities is 4-6 weeks ARO. Pricing is US$0.90 for FP0060N8-G in 1K quantities.
