New Report Charts Company's Progress on Its Commitment to Operate in an Economically, Environmentally and Socially Responsible Manner

HOUSTON, May 3, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Spectra Energy (NYSE: SE) today announced its 2011 Sustainability Report is now available in both a print and online version. The report, "What's Important to You Is Important to Us," offers detailed descriptions of the company's commitment to operating in an economically, environmentally and socially responsible manner, as part of its long-term business strategy.

As with prior reports, which are issued bi-annually, the 2011 report includes in-depth information about Spectra Energy's progress on its sustainability objectives, its operations, the natural gas industry and the key roles the company plays in the natural gas value chain. This year's edition takes an even more comprehensive look at the company's commitment to safety and stakeholder engagement and, for the first time, includes five-year trend data.

In addition, the print version features Quick Response, or QR, codes that allow smartphone users to link to more information in the online report.

"For Spectra Energy, sustainability is fundamental to meeting both short- and long-term financial and operational targets in an environment of changing energy priorities. Our employees demonstrate an ongoing commitment and accountability for making sustainable choices that represent the best in economic, environmental and social values and practices," said Greg Ebel, president and chief executive officer, Spectra Energy Corp. "I am proud of the many meaningful sustainability accomplishments we have achieved during the past few years, but this is a marathon, not a sprint, and we remain committed to continually improving the way we do business and working to make our communities stronger."
