Miranda's Kaleido Multiviewers Center Stage at Manhattan Center

Monday, May 21, 2012 6:34 AM

MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - May 21, 2012) - Miranda Technologies Inc. (TSX:MT), a global provider of integrated solutions for production, playout and delivery systems for television broadcasters and multi-system operators, has supplied its Kaleido-X and Kaleido-X16 multiviewer technology to Manhattan Center Studios' newly rebuilt TV1 and TV2 studio control rooms.

Manhattan Center, located opposite Madison Square Garden and Penn Station, is New York's premier mid-size venue for performances and special events, handling both stage performances and live events such as game shows and talk shows.

Marvin Williams, director of engineering and operations at Manhattan Center Studios said, "TV1 and TV2 are the centerpieces of a major, iconic renovation that we believe incorporates the best of modern HD technology and infrastructure. The Miranda multiviewers tie it all together by giving our operators total visibility of our facility, which is absolutely crucial given the constant stream of high profile events produced here."

The center's control rooms each include Miranda multiviewers at the heart of the operation. There's a Kaleido-X in the TV-1 control room, which works with the Grass Valley Trinix router under Jupiter control and uses the serial tally features between the GVG Kayenne switcher and the Kaleido-X. The Kaleido-X feeds eight 52" LCD monitors - seven in the control room and one in the audio control room - and closed captions features and embedded audio features are utilized when live for extra monitoring. The TV-2 control room features three Miranda Kaleido X-16's which are linked together feeding six 46" LCD monitors. The Kaleido X-16's are fed video sources from the GVG Trinix router, with the Miranda XEdit software providing fast and interactive control and quick changes to the multiviewer.
