EDMONTON, Alberta, May 22, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Just Energy, a leading competitive North American retailer of natural gas, electricity and green energy, has donated $10,000 to The Mustard Seed Edmonton, an inner city social services agency. In addition to helping cover utility expenses, Just Energy will donate a number of energy conservation kits to be used to retrofit each apartment with energy efficient products to help reduce residents' future energy costs.

"Just Energy is committed to being a strong corporate citizen in the communities we serve by supporting local charities," said Ken Hartwick, CEO of Just Energy. "We are inspired by organizations like The Mustard Seed that make a difference at the local level. This funding will help deliver basic human essentials to the people who rely on The Mustard Seed for warmth and shelter."

Previous Just Energy donations to The Mustard Seed Edmonton contributed to the organization's ability to purchase a high efficiency boiler for their century old building. These donations are part of Just Energy's Fund for Warmth program, which support community-based initiatives that help those in need of heating assistance.

"Our partnership with Just Energy will help to provide support programs that directly impact and change the lives of people in need in Edmonton's inner city," said Dave Grauwiler, Executive Director of The Mustard Seed Northern Alberta. "Generous donations like these help fulfill our mission to assist those in need as they gain personal and financial independence."

There are many people who come to The Mustard Seed in search of food, clothing and a place of acceptance and hope. Donations like this will increasingly help support individuals and address poverty in greater Edmonton.  The Mustard Seed has provided services to thousands of people over the past year.
