Verizon Hosts Internet Safety Webinar on June 14 for Parents; Kelly Mendoza of Common Sense Media to Lead Conversation on Keeping Kids, Families Safe Online

NEW YORK, June 13, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- In observance of National Internet Safety Month, in June, Verizon will host a Webinar from 12:30 p.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday (June 14) focusing on keeping children and families safe online. Featured speaker will be Kelly Mendoza of Common Sense Media, a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of families by providing advice and education they can use to thrive in the world of media and technology. The discussion will include the biggest safety risks, according to expert research; tips and advice on reducing these risks; how parents can start the conversation with their kids about online safety; and safer use of social networking sites.

On June 28, Verizon will host another 30-minute webinar focused on how seniors can protect themselves while online. That session also will begin at 12:30 p.m. and will feature Debbie Berlyn of Project GOAL, a nonprofit agency dedicated to promoting the adoption of broadband services by older adults, as well as raising awareness in the senior community about challenges in the use and adoption of technology.
