Michael Baker Jr., Inc., a unit of Michael Baker Corporation (NYSE
MKT:BKR), announced that it has recently been awarded multiple contracts
in its Geospatial Information Technology (GIT) practice area totaling an
estimated $1.75 million. The contracts originate from several different
target private sector markets including alternative energy, conventional
energy, land development, and sports and entertainment. Specific details
of individual contracts or projects were not disclosed.
Baker’s Robert (Bob) Hanson, senior vice president and GIT practice
manager, said, “We’ve recently experienced significant opportunity in
our surveying practice by concentrating our efforts on projects
important to private sector customers in solar energy farms, gas
transmission pipelines and auto racetracks. Demand for specialty
geospatial services in the private sector, particularly surveying for
land development projects, has increased as well, most notably in
California with our RBF operations. These private sector projects
demonstrate an increasing diversification of Baker’s customer mix
nationwide.”
