TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - June 21, 2012) - The Honourable Lisa Raitt, Canada's Labour Minister, today addressed the Canada-Poland Chamber of Commerce through a keynote address on the economy and current labour initiatives. The event was hosted by the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland and assembled business and trade leaders.

"Our Government recognizes the tremendous contribution made by Canadian businesses and entrepreneurs to Canada's economic well-being," said Minister Raitt. "Engaging with the entrepreneurial sector is a valuable way to discuss current issues and exchange ideas on how to promote job creation."

The Canada-Poland Chamber of Commerce of Toronto helps promote, develop and expand business, trade and investment opportunities between Canada and Poland. It also develops networking opportunities with other business organizations in Canada.

The Labour Program develops, administers and enforces workplace legislation and regulations, such as the Canada Labour Code. These laws cover industrial relations, health and safety, as well as employment standards, and apply to federally regulated workers and employers.
