Veteran Microsoft and Vodafone Executive Joins Team of Senior
Communications Executives Advising Wireless Technology Leader
InterDigital, Inc. (NASDAQ: IDCC) today announced that Pieter Knook has
joined the company’s Technical Advisory Council, which helps to evaluate
and provide guidance on overall industry trends, make recommendations to
the company’s strategic technical priorities, and provide insights on
new technology program initiatives. Mr. Knook is a recognized innovator
in mobile services and technologies, leveraging a successful career
building mobile product and services platforms with leading
multinational companies.
Mr. Knook built his career at Microsoft, where he spent 18 years in
technical, sales, marketing and business management roles across three
different organizations including several start-ups. When he left
Microsoft in 2008, he was Senior Vice President and global lead of the
company’s mobile business. Mr. Knook then joined Vodafone to lead the
launch of Vodafone 360, a new software services venture for the Vodafone
Group, where he was on the Strategy Board, the Marketing Board, the CEO
Council, the Group Marketing Leadership team and also on the Ventures
Board and the Content Board and the board of the Wholesale Applications
Community representing the Vodafone Internet Services unit.

Mr. Knook serves as non-executive Chairman at Pulsant Limited, a UK
provider of IT infrastructure services, The Institution, a Swedish
provider of mobile device management, and Better Generation, a UK
provider of micro-renewable energy site assessment tools. He is also on
the board of QuantumWave Capital, a mobile internet global investment
banking boutique, and serves on the advisory boards of multiple
technology-related companies. Mr. Knook holds a Masters in Electrical
Sciences from Cambridge University in the UK, where he is also a
visiting Professor in Innovation at the Engineering Department.
The InterDigital Technical Advisory Council, formed in 2010, advises the
company’s senior management team on strategic technical priorities and
direction, potential new markets and product opportunities, product,
service and technology program initiatives, and additional technology
matters where the Council brings relevant insights. Serving on
InterDigital’s Technical Advisory Council , Pieter Knook joins fellow
thought leaders Thomas Gilley (Critical Media), Dr. Andrea Goldsmith
(Stanford University), David Hytha (Sofinnova Ventures, formerly at
T-Mobile), Dr. Luigi Licciardi (Telecom Italia), Dr. Byung K. Yi
(retired from LG Electronics), and InterDigital’s CTO and Council Chair,
Naresh Soni.
