NEW YORK, NY -- (Marketwire) -- 06/26/12 -- Bayshore Networks, the leading provider of internal application firewall technology engineered to detect and block advanced malware and threats, today announced that world renowned economist Dr. Arthur Laffer and TD Ameritrade Holding Corporation (NYSE: AMTD) Chief Technology Officer Lou Steinberg, have joined the company's board of advisors. Bringing decades of high-profile experience in technology, economics and government, Dr. Laffer and Steinberg will provide top-level guidance and direction, helping to navigate Bayshore's continued success and market leadership.
Dr. Laffer is most well known for his invention of the Laffer Curve, which Time acknowledged in its cover story, The Century's Greatest Minds, as one of a 'few of the advances that powered this extraordinary century.' As President Ronald Reagan's chief economic advisor, Dr. Laffer and his supply-side work helped trigger a world-wide tax-cutting movement in the 1980s. Distinguished with two Graham & Dodd awards, an Adam Smith award and honored in The Wall Street Journal's "Gallery of the Greatest People Who Influenced Our Daily Business," Dr. Laffer's political and economic insights continue to have significant impact. In 2011, The Laffer Center for Supply-Side Economics was founded in his name with the goal of preserving and promoting the core tenets of supply-side economics. As CEO and founder of Laffer Associates, as a board of directors and audit committee member of several multinational and national NYSE-listed and privately held companies, and as a proud father of six children, Dr. Laffer continues to invent, research, write and provide expert advice on his life-long passion: economics.
Steinberg currently serves as CTO at TD Ameritrade, and Chairman of Rev2, a leading Business Risk Analytics software provider. Previously, he served as CEO of Cranite Systems and as CTO of Symbol Technologies (now Motorola). An entrepreneur-in-residence at Warburg Pincus, Steinberg served as a strategy advisor to senior management at Comcast, Citigroup, and NCR. Prior to Warburg Pincus, Steinberg served as SVP of Marketing and Market Development at Micromuse (now IBM); Steinberg joined Micromuse through the acquisition of NetOps Corp, an analysis and fault-prediction company he founded and led as CEO. Steinberg spent over a decade at IBM in various technical and management roles, notably contributing to router development for the NSFNet, a second-generation Internet backbone. Steinberg is the author of Troubleshooting with SNMP and Understanding MIBs (McGraw-Hill, 2000), as well as numerous articles on technology and infrastructure. Steinberg graduated from the Stevens Institute of Technology with a bachelor's degree in engineering and a master's degree in computer science.
"We welcome Art and Lou to the Bayshore board of advisors and look forward to their strategic and operational guidance based on decades of highly-influential and respected leadership success," said Bayshore Networks Chief Executive Officer and founder Francis Cianfrocca.
Bayshore's flagship SingleKey Layer 7 application firewall leverages patent-pending heuristic baselining, behavior-based analytics and highly-granular SingleKey Policy Language (SPL) to detect anomalous behavior in real time. Bayshore most recently announced second generation availability of its Bayshore SCADA Firewall, and in February, the company announced a strategic technology integration with BAE Systems to deliver a powerful combination of Bayshore's Layer 7 internal firewall technology with BAE's ultra-secure STOP OS to deliver unmatched protection for BAE defense customers.
"Today's advanced threats are ongoing and actively compromising American government and private enterprise," Dr. Laffer said. "I am very impressed with the innovation and effectiveness behind Bayshore Networks technology to defend our nation's most critical assets, and look forward to contributing to the company's growth and success in an advisory capacity."
Steinberg concurred, adding that today's unpredictable and increasingly sophisticated advanced threat landscape has many large private sector enterprises exploring and adopting information security and assurance tools like Bayshore's next generation internal firewall, currently used to protect government, critical infrastructure, utilities and SCADA Industrial Control Systems.
"Bayshore's strong track record for security innovation and effectiveness make it a significant technology for any organization looking to fortify and protect its own internal infrastructure," Steinberg said. "I look forward to making a valuable contribution as a Bayshore advisor and to help advance the company's growing market leadership."
