Crews traveling to Virginia as millions remain without power in several states

DALLAS, July 1, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Oncor is heading north to help restore power to nearly four million people after a fierce thunderstorm disrupted service in nine states and an intense heat wave followed. Crews from across our service area will leave Sunday morning as part of Oncor's participation in a mutual assistance program with other utilities.

"It's important for us to help our counterparts in other areas of the country during times of power emergencies.  We are more than happy to assist the same personnel that would come to our aid in times of need," Oncor's Chief Operating Officer Jim Greer said. "Oncor takes great pride in the fact that our employees are willing to sacrifice their holiday and time with family to help those who can benefit from their expertise."

One of the hardest hit areas is Virginia, where news reports have said at least a million people are without power and the governor has issued a state of emergency. Oncor will send approximately 140 employees and contractors to Richmond, Virginia to meet with personnel from other utilities and begin work to safely restore power as temperatures hover around record levels.

Oncor Electric Delivery Company LLC ("Oncor") is a regulated electricity distribution and transmission business that uses superior asset management skills to provide reliable electricity delivery to consumers.
