Epiq Systems Panel Event Delivers Lively Discussion on Views Toward Technology Assisted Review (TAR)

Monday, July 02, 2012 1:00 PM

NEW YORK, July 2, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Epiq Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq:EPIQ), a leading provider of managed technology services for the global legal profession, hosted an engaging panel session attended by members of law firms and corporate counsel on June 27 in London. The session examined the use of Technology Assisted Review (TAR) to reduce eDiscovery costs. Among the topics discussed were the reasons for the reluctance to use predictive coding, how it can be used most effectively and whether there is legal authority to do so.

The panel included legal authorities United States Hon. Magistrate Judge Andrew Peck and Master Steven Whitaker, Senior Master of the Senior Courts of England and Wales who chaired the working group that drafted the e-Disclosure Practice Directive; Bob Lewis MBE, Global Director of Cyber Forensics & Investigations (CFI) Barclays Bank plc; and Shantanu Majumdar, Barrister at Radcliffe Chambers. The event was chaired by Laura Kibbe, Managing Director of Epiq's Document Review and Professional Services.

"We are delighted with the success of the panel session; the feedback from attendees has been extremely positive," said Greg Wildisen, International Managing Director, Epiq Systems. "The excellent turnout is a testament not only to our distinguished panellists, but also to the growing interest in the use of predictive coding in eDiscovery. The discussion provided delegates with practical advice on the most effective ways to deploy the technology and on the variables which need to be agreed between parties in a protocol before the technology is used."
