Davis to retire; Plona named CNO at DTE Energy's Fermi 2 Nuclear Power Plant

DETROIT, July 2, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Jack M. Davis, senior vice president and chief nuclear officer at DTE Energy's Fermi 2 Nuclear Power Plant, has announced that he is retiring at the end of this year.  The DTE Energy Board of Directors has named Joseph H. Plona, currently site vice president, to replace Davis as senior vice president and chief nuclear officer, effective Sept. 1.

Plona will report to Steven Kurmas, president and chief operating officer of Detroit Edison, who will assume responsibility for Nuclear Generation.  

Davis has been named executive vice president, Nuclear Generation, to facilitate an orderly transition until his retirement.

"Jack's knowledge and leadership have been invaluable for the past five years," said Gerry Anderson, DTE Energy chairman, president and CEO. "He has guided Fermi 2 to achieve significant improvements in operations, safety and reliability.  The plant is now at top levels of industry performance."

Davis said he is confident that Plona will excel in his new leadership role at Fermi 2.

"I have the highest confidence that Joe will continue to lead Fermi 2 in our constant pursuit for the highest standards of nuclear excellence," Davis said.  "He has a proven record in his current role and I'm sure he will consistently achieve excellence while at the helm."  

Fermi 2, a 1,140-megawatt nuclear power plant, is owned and operated by DTE Energy (NYSE: DTE), a Detroit-based diversified energy company involved in the development and management of energy-related businesses and services nationwide.
