NEW YORK, NY -- (Marketwire) -- 07/25/12 -- Pret A Manger, Britain's leading sandwich chain, today announced the opening of its latest shop, inside Chicago's new CityTarget, in the Sullivan Center. This opening represents the first retail partnership of its kind for Pret A Manger US and includes a move from its traditional stand-alone store fronts that are expanding rapidly in the New York, Washington DC and Chicago markets. The in-store location will provide Target shoppers with the opportunity to enjoy fresh, tasty sandwiches, salads, snacks and coffee while they shop.

Since its inception in 1986 in London, Pret A Manger has been dedicated to delivering fresh, natural food to its customers, a philosophy the chain brought to the US when it launched its first New York store in 2000. Pret continues to utilize local, natural ingredients and prepare its sandwiches and salads on site every morning. Pret A Manger food never sees "day two" on the shelves. Instead, the company partners with local charities to donate unsold food at the close of every business day. In Chicago, unsold food goes to the Greater Chicago Food Depository, which serves thousands of meals to those in need every day.

"Both Pret and Target customers seek out value, convenience and quality, so this partnership reflects a strong synergy between the two brands," says Martin Bates, president, Pret A Manger US. "Target has established itself as a well-loved and trusted brand across America, and we're thrilled to have the opportunity to partner with such a highly revered company and help make the launch of the Chicago CityTarget location something extra special. We look forward to bringing our fresh, hand-made food to Target shoppers."

"By partnering with Pret A Manger in our new CityTarget location, we are able to bring a wide range of delicious, healthy breakfast and lunch choices to urban dwellers, commuters and tourists in downtown Chicago," says Annette Miller, senior vice president, Grocery, for Target. "We're excited that Pret's food offerings will complement the Chicago CityTarget's unique, one-stop shopping experience."

This opening builds on Pret A Manger's US presence, which includes shops in the New York, Washington DC and Chicago markets. Pret is set to launch in the Boston market later this year and has 300 shops worldwide.
