Travelers in Germany Can Now Stay Connected and Save Money With New Avis Wi-Fi Service

Wednesday, July 25, 2012 11:00 AM

PARSIPPANY, N.J., July 25, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Avis Car Rental today announced the availability of portable wireless network devices for rent at seven airport locations in Germany. The Wi-Fi devices allow car rental customers to simultaneously connect up to five mobile devices, including laptops, smartphones, tablets and even video game consoles.

For just €8.5 per day, customers can conveniently and affordably access emails, documents and the Internet when traveling. The devices are also small enough to fit in a pocket or bag so travelers can use them at the hotel or when on the go.

"The Wi-Fi devices from Avis eliminate the traveler's need to search for Wi-Fi hotspots or face the inconvenience of weak internet connections on mobile devices," said Larry De Shon, president, Europe, Middle East and Africa, Avis Budget Group. "The Avis service is cheaper than the services offered by most hotels in Germany, so it's the perfect way for travelers to stay connected and keep in touch with friends and family."

The devices are available for rent at Avis airport locations at Berlin Tegel, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Hanover, Munich and Stuttgart airports. The Wi-Fi service is also being piloted at airport locations in Edinburgh, Scotland and Barcelona and Madrid in Spain. To add the Wi-Fi service onto a car rental reservation, customers should request it at the counter. For customers' safety, Wi-Fi devices should never be used by the driver while the vehicle is in operation. Wi-Fi service should be used only by passengers and while the vehicle is parked.

Avis is committed to enhancing the rental experience for its customers and is a leader in offering services that make travel more convenient. Innovations include mobile applications on all four major mobile platforms (Android, BlackBerry, iPhone and Windows Phone), Avis Chauffeur Drive service, GPS navigation, electronic toll collection solutions, e-Receipts and Rapid Return, the Company's automated car rental return process.
