Harris Corporation Names Robert Duffy Senior Vice President of Human Resources and Administration

Thursday, July 26, 2012 8:00 AM

Harris Corporation (NYSE:HRS), an international communications and information technology company, has named Robert Duffy senior vice president of Human Resources and Administration, reporting to Harris President and CEO Bill Brown. He succeeds Jeff Shuman, who is leaving Harris to pursue other opportunities.

In this role, Duffy, 45, is responsible for planning and implementing Harris’ human resources and administrative organizations’ strategy globally. He will direct the development of the company’s work force, including talent acquisition, leadership development and training, employee relations, compensation and benefits, and will oversee real estate, environmental, health and safety, corporate relations, communications/public relations, flight operations and business conduct.

Duffy brings nearly 20 years of human resources leadership experience to Harris. He joined Harris from United Technologies Corporation (UTC) where he held domestic and international leadership positions of increasing responsibility since joining the company in 1998. He most recently served as vice president of Human Resources for the company’s $7 billion Sikorsky aircraft operation. Previously he served in similar roles within UTC’s Fire and Security, Carrier, Hamilton Sundstrand and Pratt & Whitney operations.

Prior to joining UTC, Duffy held human resource management positions with Royal Dutch Shell and the James River Corporation.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in human resource management from Muhlenberg College and a master’s degree in management and technology from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

“Jeff demonstrated strong leadership and made many contributions since joining Harris in 2005. We wish him well in his new endeavors,” said Brown. “Bob brings a strong mix of domestic and international experience that will serve Harris well. His successful track record of leading high-performance organizations by aligning human resources with strategic business objectives is a perfect fit with our growth strategy going forward.”
