Oregon Launches Business Xpress Website as One-Stop for Doing Business in Oregon

Friday, July 27, 2012 1:44 PM

The State of Oregon has just made it easier for business owners to interact with the state with the launch of Business Xpress, www.oregon.gov/business. This new site brings together varying state online services, forms, and information so that they may be accessible quickly and easily from a single website.

Building Business Xpress was a collaborative effort led by the Secretary of State Kate Brown’s office to satisfy the requirement described in House Bill 3247. Nine Oregon agencies worked together to collect information and advise on the content structure and design of the website. This collaborative effort by agencies leveraged the benefits of user-testing by soliciting feedback from business associations and dozens of Oregonians throughout the design process to ensure the site is user-friendly and satisfies the needs of Oregon businesses as they interact with the state.

“Reducing red tape and the time it takes to get answers will ultimately serve Oregon business better than ever before,” said Secretary of State Kate Brown. “Bringing information and services together in one place offers additional efficiency to businesses as they interact with the state online.”

Some examples of online services accessible through the new portal are:

  • Central Business Registry (Secretary of State)
  • Pay business taxes online (Department of Revenue)
  • License, Permit and Registration Directory (State-Wide Directory hosted by Secretary of State)
  • Expand in Oregon - Searchable online database of available land and buildings (Business Oregon)
  • Apply for Building Permits Online (Department of Consumer & Business Services)
  • Customized Search of Economic, Demographic and Workforce Information (Employment Department)
  • Find contracting opportunities with the State of Oregon (Department of Administrative Services)

Before the launch of Business Xpress, finding these services meant visiting multiple agency websites. The goal of Business Xpress is to help businesses quickly find the information and services they need and complete tasks online without having to understand state agency jargon.
