SurePayroll Makes Bold Recommendations

GLENVIEW, Ill., Aug. 16, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- SurePayroll Inc., a leader in providing online payroll to small businesses nationwide, today released an infographic of its SurePayroll Fantasy Football Payroll Index. The index uses a statistical analysis that compares 2012 average values for fantasy football quarterbacks, running backs and wide receivers to the players' 2011 performance. The SurePayroll infographic comes to a bold conclusion: The New York Jets' much-maligned QB Mark Sanchez may be a better value than stars such as Aaron Rodgers, Eli Manning, Tom Brady and Drew Brees.

"We created a cost index and a performance index," said SurePayroll Vice President of Marketing Scott Brandt. "If a player's cost index too greatly exceeds his performance index, you're paying a premium and putting a drain on your fantasy payroll. We think there are better values beyond some of the biggest names that will allow you to build a better overall team."

SurePayroll's infographic recommends Sanchez and Alex Smith of the San Francisco 49ers if you want deep value at quarterback, while you'll have to pay a 50% premium for the likes of Rodgers, Brady and Brees. Among running backs in the undervalued category is Beanie Wells of the Arizona Cardinals (at an average auction value of only $10 compared to $45 for top-rated backs Arian Foster and LeSean McCoy). DeAngelo Williams of the Carolina Panthers has a performance index 4x higher than his cost index, suggesting a potential steal.

"We work on behalf of small business owners every day and we know they hate to overspend," Brandt said. "We thought fantasy football owners would have the same mentality. When you take a look at a running back like Fred Jackson, his performance was almost the same as Foster, McCoy and Ray Rice. But he's only one third of the cost. Fantasy owners should take advantage. That's a sale!"

At the difficult to evaluate position of wide receiver, Andre Johnson of the Houston Texans is going at a 15% premium and wide receivers are plentiful. Young wideout Demaryius Thomas of the Denver Broncos, now working with quarterback Peyton Manning, looks to be 15% undervalued. Jordy Nelson, who had a breakout year in 2011 for the Green Bay Packers, is still half the cost of the most expensive receiver, the Detroit Lions' Calvin Johnson.
