Majority of Texas Border Counties Now Using COPsync System to Protect U.S. - Mexico Border
Dallas, Texas, Aug. 20, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- COPsync, Inc. (OTCQB: COYN), which operates the nation's largest
law enforcement real-time, in-car information sharing,
communication and data interoperability network, announced that the
Starr County, Texas Sheriff's Office has become the newest
sheriff's office along the Texas-Mexico border to join the COPsync
information sharing network.
According to Patrick Hawthorne, COPsync regional sales manager
for South Texas and former police chief, "The Starr County
Sheriff's Office joins the hundreds of other Texas law enforcement
agencies on the COPsync network. Starr County deputies can now run
TCIC and NCIC queries in their vehicles. They can also access El
Paso Intelligence Center (EPIC) border crossing information and
create offense, incident, crash, citation and field contact
reports, share these reports with other agencies and access the
reports created by other agencies -- all in real-time. A majority
of the sheriff's offices along the Texas-Mexico border are now
using the COPsync system. These border agencies have created
an interlinked and interconnected virtual electronic barrier of law
enforcement that is collaborating to guard the U.S. - Mexico
border."
"The Starr County Sheriff's Office is delighted to join
the COPsync network," said Starr County Sheriff Rene Fuentes.
He continued, "The Starr County SO is now at the forefront of law
enforcement agencies that are using innovative technologies to
detect and interdict drug smuggling, human trafficking and other
illegal activity along the U.S. - Mexico border. Our deputies
are now also protected by COPsync's electronic alerts that are
instantaneously transmitted to summon help and advise other
officers of dangerous persons and situations. The COPsync
system also can be used to create 'attempt to locate,' 'be on the
lookout,' and intelligence bulletins. These electronic tools
will help the Sheriff's Office protect and serve Starr County
citizens. I encourage the remaining Texas border counties to
join the COPsync network as soon as possible."
