Middle East region as a whole and to ensure that both U.S. and Arab
businesses grow and prosper by providing access to business
opportunities.
President Clinton headlines an outstanding group of speakers, just one
week following his appearance at the Democratic National Convention and
one week prior to the Clinton Global Initiative. Many of the most
prestigious business leaders, policy-makers, educators, and civil
society members from across the globe, including: Apple CEO Tim Cook,
and His Excellency Abdullah A. Zainel Alireza, former Minister of
Commerce and Industry of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will join with
Bermuda’s Premier, the Hon. Paula A. Cox, JP, MP, to draw upon their
unique insight into doing business with the Middle East and offering
practical advice on how others can succeed in growing their own business
in the fast emerging Middle East markets.
Bermuda, a leading international financial center has established
considerable bilateral business and financial ties with the Arab world.
Its renowned financial services sector serves as a natural gateway to
the U.S. and Western Hemisphere for Shari’ah compliant finance from the
Middle East. Premier Cox said she welcomed the opportunity to join with
the C3 Summit organizers in increasing commercial ties between Bermuda,
the U.S. and the Arab world. She noted that the C3 Summit comes at a
time of great change in the Middle East which will affect the ways in
which the West will do business with these fast emerging and critical
markets.
“The C3 conference is dedicated to examining these changes and
suggesting ways that we and our Middle East colleagues can profit from
change. We invite all those who do business in the Middle East to join
President Clinton and ourselves us at this timely event,” she said.
Mr. Potter added that among its many objectives, the C3 conference is
dedicated to helping the region’s new governments form a strong civil
democracy based on shared values. “By creating a global forum from both
the West and the East to explore private sector growth and employment
generation, C3 will encourage each region to open new opportunities on
the commercial front to increase freer trade. In short, the aspiration
of C3 is to encourage dialogue, explore opportunities and grow jobs to
pave the path to increased progress for economic engagement between our
two regions,” he said.
