J.D. Power and Associates Ranks Verizon Wireless Highest in Network Quality in New England

Thursday, August 23, 2012 1:24 PM

When it comes to network quality in New England, Verizon Wireless ranks highest among U.S. wireless providers, according to the latest J.D. Power and Associates 2012 Wireless Network Quality Performance Study℠, Volume 2. The New England region includes Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont.

The J.D. Power and Associates study measured network quality among all U.S. wireless service providers based on factors that impact overall carrier performance. Approximately 27,000 wireless subscribers were surveyed by J.D. Power and Associates between January and June 2012 about their experiences with wireless voice, text messaging and data usage. Based on their responses, Verizon Wireless performed significantly above the industry average in all six regions and ranked highest among national wireless companies in five regions, including New England.

“Today’s smartphones and tablets require a powerful network to maximize all of the apps, features and functionality that customers have come to rely on,” said Christine Berberich, New England Region President for Verizon Wireless. “Verizon Wireless’ track record of network investment and innovation across New England demonstrates our continued focus on delivering the very best wireless experience to customers by maintaining, expanding and enhancing our industry-leading wireless voice and data networks.”

Verizon Wireless invests on average more than $6 billion annually in its network to stay ahead of the growing demand for the company’s voice and data services. Verizon Wireless’ ongoing network investment totals more than $3 billion in New England and more than $70 billion nationally since the company was formed, which includes the introduction and expansion of 4G LTE. In 2012 alone, the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE network has expanded throughout the New England region including:

  • Bennington and Rutland, Vermont
  • Brattleboro and White River Junction, Vermont
  • Burlington and Northern Vermont
  • Cape Cod, Massachusetts
  • Communities within Berkshire County, Massachusetts
  • Communities within Plymouth County, Massachusetts
  • Massachusetts’ North Shore
  • New Hampshire's Seacoast
  • Southeastern Connecticut

Verizon Wireless leads the way with the nation’s largest 4G LTE network, covering more than 75 percent of the U.S. population and supporting a wide array of 4G LTE-enabled devices, such as the Samsung Galaxy S® III and DROID INCREDIBLE 4G LTE by HTC, as well as Home Fusion Broadband, an in-home broadband service, available in some markets within the New England region, that harnesses the power of the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE network.
