Akamai is the highest ranked technology company headquartered in Massachusetts on the Glassdoor list, and placed 17th overall.

"We are excited to be named among Glassdoor's Top 50 Best Places to Work," said Robert Hughes, President, Worldwide Operations at Akamai.  "This recognition is testament to Akamai's focus on our employees as we continue to create an exciting and challenging workplace that fosters innovation and collaboration.  It is the drive, commitment and passion of our employees that is defining Akamai's success."

"The Glassdoor Awards symbolize employees' support for how their employers operate, drive culture and foster success," said Robert Hohman, co-founder and CEO of Glassdoor. "Companies on the 2013 list tend to see high marks for career advancement opportunities, clear company vision and a sense of respect among colleagues."

Close to half a million company reviews were submitted by employees to Glassdoor during the past 12 months to help put their employers in the running for the awards.  The Glassdoor company review survey asks employees to rate their satisfaction with the company overall, as well as key workplace factors like career opportunities, compensation and benefits, work/life balance, senior management, and culture & values.

The list was compiled using Glassdoor's proprietary algorithm, and the overall ranking was determined according to each company's overall Glassdoor rating.  For the purpose of this report, the overall rating is the cumulative average rating from US-based employees who elected to participate in the survey between November 23, 2011 and November 13, 2012.

Akamai was also named one of Glassdoor's Top 25 Companies for Career Opportunities in America and recently earned recognition as one of The Boston Globe's "Top Places to Work, 2012" and one of India's Best Companies to Work for 2012 by Great Place To Work Institute.
